For Teachers

My goal is to create easily discussed short activities for students to do related to what I've learned in my travels around the world. The posts will vary in topic and appropriate age level, though they will always be for elementary students.

I hope to blog once or twice a week. I will normally post on Fridays, giving teachers a chance to see the blogs in order to plan for the following week. There are times when I will ask questions in the blogs. If that is the case, then the answers will post sometime within the next week. If the blog posts on Friday, then the answers will probably post the following Wednesday. If the blog posts on Monday, then it is probably a more straight forward problem and the answers should post on Tuesday.

There are several options for how to use this blog.

1. Search the tags down the side for a subject that is of interest to you. These tags will take you into the blog archives for any post I've done relating to your topic of choice. You can scroll down through the results to find something of interest. Keep in mind, if you search this way, you may see Answer Posts above the Question Posts. This is because the blog is in chronological order with the oldest posts at the bottom.

2. Use the activities as they appear on the blog. This will mean that you will have to plan for varied subjects. If you choose this route, you can sign up to get an email reminder of when every blog posts (see option on the right side of the blog).

3. Ask your students to follow the blog and offer them extra credit for answers or mentions of what they've learned.

4. Use the blog as an opportunity to open discussions with your students. If they are interested or have questions, ask them to leave a comment in the bottom of the blog. This is a way they can interact with me about the topics, ask for more information, ask for more pictures, or just practice some typing/writing. I will respond via comments as soon as I can. Hopefully within a week of their post (depending on my location and accessibility of internet).
